Father and Son Pictures

Something came to me the other day when I was out for my long walk. Alot of you might not know that my father is very ill and has been for a very long time. He has battled MS his whole life. On top of that, he was diagnosed with cancer this past year which is terminal. After going through family pictures, I noticed that I don't have many pictures of my dad and me together and the few that I do have were mainly family portraits. None of the photos portrayed the personal relationships that he shared with me or the rest of my family. It would have been great to have seen pictures of him throwing ball with me or chasing me around outside with the water hose or giving me a piggy back ride in the park. There were no hugs or kisses to be seen. That's why I felt the reason to write this post. I urge you to get those pictures with your children so they can look back one day and see the relationship they had with you. Life is really about those special moments with the people you love and the relationships you share. My kids will never see what I shared with my dad. They will know him only through stories that I tell. That inspired me to get out my camera and get some pictues of myself with my little ones. I want to be able to show the love and the connection I have with my kids. They are truly my motivation and passion and hopefully one day they will appreciate the fact that I took time to photograph us together. Here are some of my favorites.

Great post, Todd. And great idea. Now... to get some time to do it :-)

That might be an interesting niche for the photography business. Might make a good present for Father's day, or Mother's day. Although the margins would be lower than with weddings.
